Electronic supergroup Above & Beyond have shared details of their highly anticipated 2016 acoustic album and tour. The album is set for release in the spring of 2016 and will be supported by a tour across three continents encompassing plays in some of the most prestigious music venues in the world, including the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, Sydney Opera House and London’s Royal Albert Hall, with further stops planned at The Chicago Theatre, Massey Hall in Toronto, The Wang in Boston, New York’s Beacon Theatre, Berkeley, CA’s Greek Theatre and Waikiki Shell in Honolulu, Hawaii.
“Acoustic II” is a follow-up album to the 2014 release of “Acoustic“. It will feature new arrangements and reworked material of the biggest hits from “We Are All We Need“, including a down-tempo interpretation of Peace of Mind (which is sampled in the promo video below) and the fan-adored festival anthem Hello, as well as previously released favourites including Alchemy and No One On Earth.
Jono Grant, Tony McGuinness, and Paavo Siljamäki‘s acoustic project began in 2013 with a short run of shows, including two sold-out shows at Los Angeles’ Greek Theatre. With Paavo on grand piano, Jono on Rhodes and Tony on guitars and vocals, the trio performed as part of a 15-piece band alongside vocalists Zoë Johnston, Annie Drury and Alex Vargas for what Billboard magazine described as “…one of the finest shows in dance music history.”
Toronto has the privilege of hosting the tour’s only Canadian stop, quickly becoming one of the highest anticipated events for 2016. “We had so much fun doing the first run of acoustic shows and it was really the reaction from our fans that convinced us to tour it more extensively,” stated Above & Beyond. This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for many Canadian fans of the progressive trance group, and it is sure to sell out once tickets are released on December 4th.
