EVENT PREVIEW: Monkey Buzinezz presents Trance Unity Rave @ Circus Afterhours 24-02-18

Monkey BuzinezZ gave us all an early Christmas present back in December – the lineup for the fourth edition of Trance Unity! We didn’t even have to wait a full year for the next one, as the date was moved up to February, and this time around it’s a special Legends edition.

This event is not for the faint of heart (or feet), but is for trance lovers. This one go-big-or-go-home night has gained a lot of attention from trance fans inside and outside of Montreal, with people joining the madness from various places around Canada and the United States. Some of the EDM TOR team went to last year’s show and you can read our raving review of it here (see what I did there?). One of our members even proposed at the event last year! Personally, this will be my first time going, and I couldn’t be more excited. I’ve heard about how much fun this massive trance night is from others in the community, and now I not only get to experience it firsthand, but also get to share my night with all of you! You better believe I’ll last the whole night, too. 😉

Trance Unity is hosted inside CIRCUS Afterhours. Starting on Saturday, February 24th at 10PM and ending on Sunday February 25 at 11AM, 20 local and international DJs will play for 13 consecutive hours (can I get a ‘YAAAASSS’!). Not a single set will be recorded, nor is any photography or videography allowed inside the venue; you have to be there to experience it! The set times will be released closer to the date, but check out the stellar lineup below:

The three rooms feature various incredible artists, all within the themes of Heaven, Hell, and Earth. Let’s go through this beast of a lineup:

First up, we have the Heaven Room featuring Alex M.O.R.P.H.Gabriel & DresdenMarco VNifraRoger ShahStanderwickSuper8 & Tab, and Karl K-Otik. If this room matches my expectations, it will have an energized, uplifting vibe the entire way through. I’ve only ever seen one of these DJs live before (Standerwick), so I am super stoked to see what the others bring to the decks, especially during a night like this.

Then there’s my personal favorite (in theme and in musical lineup), the Hell Room. This year there’s a special J00f editions takeover with none other than John 00 Fleming as well as Christopher LawrenceAirwave, and Tim Penner. I’ve seen all of the above live before, which makes me even more excited to relive their energy on the dance floor. This should be a dark, down and dirty room from beginning to finish, and you will likely find me there for a majority of the night… but you never know where a trance night like this might take me!

Last but not least, we have the Earth Room, this year themed as a classics room for all you die-hard classic trance fans. Super8 & Tab will be delivering a special classics set (which is a must-not-miss set in my books), as well as Tomac, Carl Muren, Kris Morton, Rob NaylorJCP, and DJ Hamm. I have been lucky enough to see Toronto local Kris Morton (great to see him on this lineup!) bang out a vinyl classics set, which was something to behold. Based on that talent in the Earth Room alone, I’m definitely looking forward to seeing what the other artists have in store for our ears on this special night.

Trance Unity tier one and two tickets have already sold out. Tier three tickets, still considered presale, currently sit at $70 and can be purchased here (the sooner the better – this is a solid deal for this lineup!). Tier four tickets sit at $85 and there will only be tickets available at the door if available. VIP upgrades are available for an additional $25 and includes: priority entry, coatcheck, and VIP lounge. Connect with other fans by joining the official Facebook Event page.

Team EDMTOR and I can’t wait to see you there!

About Author

Amber Wilkinson

Amber dove headfirst into the trance scene when she moved to Toronto in 2015. She feels at home on the dancefloor with the rolling basslines of psy and techtrance, and you’ll often catch her saying that "the dark side of trance understands her." She lives and swears by Giuseppe Ottaviani’s mantra “trance is music with a soul,” although lately she has been exploring the sounds of techno and bass house as well. She’s always looking for more people to tear it up with at events, so say hi if you see her around!
